ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The department of ophthalmology began functioning on 23 of November 1994 with the blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The department was set up with the vision to make available the finest in eye care in the world to its patients totally free of cost. The department has a modern operation theatre complex with three operation theatres, an advanced laser unit and other various other state of the art equipment for delivering quality patient care.

The selection of cases for surgery depends upon the visual prognosis effects at the time of screening. 

  • Number of beds in the wards : 42
  • Number of beds in ICU : 05
  • Average number of surgeries per day: 12

  • Average number of surgeries per month: 300

The department has visiting surgeons from abroad in the fields of squint and vitreo-retinal surgeries.

PATIENT CARE

For inpatients, medicines, nursing care and diet is given free of cost during their stay. The patient is admitted one day prior to and discharged on the day after surgery after being explained post-operative care and medications.
